Former Microskills Student
Here is a former unhappy student:
I remember you. My husband must have been one of the last people you sucked in. He even brought me in and had you schmooze me up because I did not want him going there. You weren't even employed there a week later when we had questions. You could have called people that hadn't attended yet and warned them after left. you should give us part of your settlement because I'm sure his enrollment was one of the comissions you were in litigation over. we're stuck paying a loan that never goes down, due rising interest rates, and all he got was a freaking back pack and some pens. that place was a joke. I see Eric Asero is being sued. i'm glad he took advantage of my husband being a foreigner, told him he was getting a 9.99% loan, talked like it was a fixed rate.....lol.... we'll be paying until we're in the grave.
And my reply:
Dear Karen
I did take a lot of time to try to find and contact your husband, Semih,
because I liked the guy, and sent an email to him. But never received a
reply. I thought he may have chosen to ignore it. Even that was risky. I
don't know how it would be viewed if I had attempted to interfere with their
enrolments. Do you think Microskills gave me a list of people that I
enrolled as I packed my box and walked out the door, and said call these
enrollees and let them know what happened?
Remember also that not everyone who goes there fails. I thought Semih might
have been one of the ones to make it. Honest, he is a bright guy.
Please apologize. Please try and get your facts straight before venting.
Don't blame the guy who is there for a few weeks and then leaves because
they didn't like his attempts to reform the school once he discovers what
they are doing, blame the ones who are responsible for the practices that
the school was responsible for. Contact Bart Richmond (not his real name) and Firouz Memarzadeh. In
particular Bart. He is easy enough to look up. Let him know how you feel
about this enterprise that he created.
As to the settlement, Microskills is now liquidated. After a long fight, the
paltry few thousand that I won, I may never get. The only winners out of
that legal fight were Microskills defense lawyers.
I am in San Diego this week. If you and Semih want to meet I am willing to
do so. The best I can promise you is some surfboard pizza (pide) or another
humble meal. If you choose to take legal action against Firouz or the
lender, I will be glad to appear as a witness for you. You may want to use
my attorney, who has a lot of experience in this field.
Tell me more about Eric if you want.
Paul
Karen did write back and we are now all friends and can hold hands and sing "Kumbaya".
Hey Paul,
Sorry to offend. I was being 90% facetiuos and 10% serious. I definetly don't blame you and I'm sure they didn't give you a list of people when you left. He went there because he was stubborn. I did not want Semih to go to that "school" at all. Unfortunately he didn't bother talking to any people already working, successful, and established in the IT field, until after it was too late.
I know that not everyone who goes there fails. Semih didn't, he passed everything he took. Just nobody is going to hire you at a living wage after you completed the program. <---more sarcasm but the get point. It is still a joke to some of our friends that he went there especially the ones who know how much it cost.
I don't know anything specific about Eric beyond how he dealt with my husband. I just saw that he is being named as a defendant along with Firouz Memarzadeh.
Anyhow sorry I apologize for being a little over the top with my sarcasm. I'm glad that you were able to win (and lose) your case. I'm getting the stuff together to submit to the BPPVE. I don't know if we even could be helped by them because he did complete all but the "freebie" classes. I just really feel he that they misrepresented...... well everything pretty much. I check all the time to see if there is going to be a class action lawsuit. We can not possibly be the only people who feel this way. i'll keep your email address in case anything comes up in the future.
Thanks for replying and good luck in the future.
Again my apology,
Karen
P.S. It all worked out in the end any how. Semih is working in sales (car) and moving into finance soon. He loves it.
