Feedback about the San Diego IT Schools (continued)
Here is a comment about a school that sells over the internet. The name of the school has been changed to X, so look out for their methodology.
Regarding the whole IT schooling scam; the following guys are based out of Florida so I don't know if they count, but they sell and "train" over the Internet, so they were able to do damage right here in San Diego. The name of the firm in question is "X" and here's what they do;
They promise that for a fraction of the cost of a standard MCSE track($1,800 vs. $10k or so from a firm like MicroSkills) you will be guided through the entire course by a certified instructor. This with a supposed money back guarantee. What actually happens:
The certified instructor is only available via "chat". OK not so bad, but after the first time I used chat support I was locked out (I was told it wasn't part of the package I purchased, even though it was plainly spelled out in writing!!!!) By the time I got X to realize the support was supposed to be included in the package that I purchased (IT TOOK A YEAR AND A HALF), they had "Discontinued the MCSE with chat support program".
As regards the money back guarantee, it turns out it's only valid for a few days (in very fine print). X said that to compensate me I can have access to their training library for a full year, for an additional $850.00 (I'm still celebrating).
The great part of it is, every 6 mos. or so a sales guy from X calls and and says: "Hey, I noticed you had subscribed for the MCSE track a while back, want to sign up for our latest half price special? By the way, how did you make out with that?" After explaining the whole story, they have me zip up the 200 or so EMAILs that went back and forth between me and X since they "Can't believe that happened". Not one of them has refunded me a dime. At least the other schools give you a set of DDs to stare at LOL.
This comment came from the Craigslist education forum. Whether it applies to the computer schools, I can't be sure as there are similar schools for other occupations.
What about people who are disabled and not capable of making decisions for themselves? I have seen several severely mentally disable individuals, without care providers been taken by these scam artists!
A former employee of one school told us that the required Wonderlic test was not done for some students or was done after they enrolled. In one case, the school enrolled a sixty year old woman with a functional IQ of the order of 70. The Wonderlic test was certainly not administered in her case.
Here is a potential student who used this site exactly what it is for, as a source of unbiased information about the technical schools. Using what we say and what they say, he made the best decision he could using the available facts.
I just almost signed up for Micro Skills program but thought I better research things better. I already went to Coleman college and that was okay but only because I had no education prior.
Man these schools are crazy these days. Guess what, my sign-up counsler was some hot chic whom I was already suspicious of just because she is in that position.
The least I could do if I still want to switch careers is go to New Horizons at half the price. Thanks guys, I’m not going at all now. Stick to the web field I shall.

Comment: Very frustrated. Looking for help. Still cannot release loan for Microskills. No lawyer will help. Does anyone know of a class action suit that would be pending for this issue?
